Sweetly Sleeping

Every Sunday night BJ and I lead a high school small group and BJ’s Mom watches Canaan for us. We’re usually done right about bedtime, so we make sure Canaan’s in his pajamas and can go easily to bed when we arrive home. Last night was so sweet. BJ and I had to drive separately and so I arrived home first with Canaan. He was so deep in sleep that I was able to unbuckle him and pick him up out of the car seat, take off his coat and remove his mittens, and bring him all the way upstairs without him waking up. His only shifting was to snuggle his face onto my shoulder. I couldn’t help but hold him for a while before setting him in the crib, staring at his sweet peaceful face soundly sleeping. Oh how I love my beautiful baby boy.

I've taken a bit of a break from blogging recently, putting my focus on Canaan and balancing work around my family. I'm not promising to be a better blogger, but today I felt like writing. Since I last wrote, Canaan has done so much - sitting up, clapping, crawling, cruising, pointing, mimicking sounds. It's amazing to me that he will be a year old one month from today. Time has flown by... but also it's hard to remember life before him.
