Boarding in the Front Yard

BJ has been taking full advantage of the heavy snowfall... with a ramp in the front yard. :) These are from just a few minutes ago...

Spring is definately NOT here....

In one week it went from 70 degrees to a blizzard!

The 'Reds' Room

Just in time for spring... we recently finished one of our spare rooms making it another space to hang out. We picked up the seating in the clearance area of Haverty's - a steal! I put up areas of chalkboard paint so BJ can keep track of stats (like march madness brackets) and painted the Cincinnati Reds logo on the far wall. It was quite a project!

We have so many pets now (5) that it's hard to keep their names straight! :) Annie's amping up the cute factor to ensure we don't forget about her. :)

This is what weather.com says for our little town today. A high of 70!!! 70! Tomorrow, 42. And the official sign of spring... 'spring-ing' forward this weekend and rolling up our clocks. That'll be pretty rough in the morning when 6am becomes 7am... but at least it means Layla will be less reluctant to go outside to do her business.

Emery and the Cookie Monster....

We had a great weekend! Tim and Erin came into town for the Emery concert (Erin spotted one of the band members in Walmart before the concert!) - we all went out for authentic mexican first - before they headed to the concert and I headed home (not being up for screaming bands). Saturday morning Erin and I had a nice relaxing morning while BJ and Tim tore their not-so-young-anymore bodies up at Perfect North Slopes. :)

Then we saw the cookie monster, and it was AWESOME (that's for BJ).

Snow Day

This morning BJ and I had fun outside in the snow sledding on the hills around our neighborhood. :) Layla was so wierd!

Grandma Murphy's 90th Birthday

Getting Well

I keep hearing this so it must be true - some kind of cold/broncitis bug must be going around. BJ got hit with it pretty hard this weekend - hopefully we're on the upswing.

We watched the 'Greatest Superbowl of All Time' (Mr. Mike Celizic's words, not mine) through a hazzy fog of sickness (BJ) and tiredness (me). Is tiredness a word? If not, it should be. OK, I checked. Microsoft Word recognizes it so it's officially a word. You all probably already knew that and are wondering if I slept through ALL of freshmen English.

Blue Like Jazz

Well this weekend I finished reading 'Blue like Jazz' - (previously referenced here) which I am pretty excited about considering I seem to be capable of only completing John Grisham books. :) How many books have I half read? At least I know I'm not the only one.

This was a very challenging, real, & honest book and I highly recommend it.

Morning Traffic Surprise

Well, I was sitting in traffic this morning (read: adding 50 minutes to my 1 hour drive) and bored... so I started going through the bills laying on my passenger seat. Gas bill last month: $27.10. Gas bill this month: $361.47. That is not a typo. I guess they read our meter wrong last month and so they're making up for it with some major sticker shock. Ouch. That was how my day started... and it's not really gotten too much better. :) Right now I'm working on giving thanks in all circumstances....

Did you know... if I accidentally shift my hands on the keyboard slightly to the right... my name becomes Krddova. It has a nice ring. :)

Maybe it's just lack of sleep...

...or maybe because she's so darn cuddly... Layla and I have a new routine of taking naps together....

Crazy Week

BJ's been putting in a LOT of overtime this week (about 60 hours total) and so I've been taking on a full week of 3am puppy duty. I can't wait to get a full night of uninterrupted sleep! She's getting bigger before our eyes!

Good news! Layla now knows 'sit', 'come', and 'ignore us completely'. :)

Late Night Business

I'm so glad it's the weekend because for the next two nights BJ will take over the 3am shift of taking Layla out to do her business. It's so hard to hate it though when all she wants to do is curl up on your lap and cuddle.

She's quieted down a lot which is also great. She doesn't bark and whine as much when we leave her alone for two seconds.... or for the night. I think she's starting to understand that either a) barking doesn't work, or b) we always come back. :)

I love this blogger Heather Armstrong... because she makes me laugh. Here's a few quotes from her latest post about their new puppy - wow - can I ever relate... (Chuck is their dog, Coco is their puppy, and Leta is their daughter)...

First Full Day With Layla

So far we've learned that Layla likes to sleep (preferrably touching a human in any way possible) and not being alone. She hates dog collars. :) She's been sleeping A LOT, which has made the process pretty easy. She's such a laid back puppy which is awesome. She's grown a lot since we first met her.

Well we're having a nice time here in Winter Park, CO. BJ and I had a crazy time getting here (long story)... and so it's been so nice to get out on the mountain. We made our way up to the highest point in the area today. Here's my sister Julie and her boyfriend Jason...
